Touchdown Brewery Tours

This is the Touchdown Brewery Tour Blog. As I visit breweries, I will post comments and photos detailing my experience. I lean towards Hoppy beers, but love all beer (American Premium Lagers are not beer) and will try to give actual comments rather then just a numeric scale. An ideal brewery is one where I feel comforatble in a jersey and jeans, from this sweet spot all establishments will be reviewed. I hope you enjoy - Jeff

10 Beers - $6 not bad. Posted by Picasa

NIce Friendly Pub, great for apres-ski. Posted by Picasa

10 beers

Maple Nut-Brown
Malty, sweet but not syrupy. No hops to speak of. Big maple in nose and in initial taste. Great mouthfeel.

Imperial Nut-Brown
Much larger malt and alcohol flavor and aroma. Maple faint to almost ghostly. Malt takes over throughout.

Tundraberry
Berry beer, mixture of berries. Sweet-tart flavors, very thin, malt does not stand up to fruit.

Glacier
Zero aroma, but beer finishes clean with some hops. Training wheel beer, but good malty mouthfeel and hops were actually added to beer. Very slight diacetel.

Stout
Nitro big chocolate nose, finishes with almost a peat smokiness. Would not call it roasty, but the peat has an unexpected pleasant finish to tie the beer together. a little thin, but a great brew.

Jackwacker Wheat
Wants to grow up to be a German wheat

Butt-Head Hock
A thick Shiner. Malty like a bock should be. excellent brew. Smooth and easy to put a couple down after work.

Pick Axe Pale Ale
Ok, they do have hops here. Nice pale ale, malty but bite-ey. Great for hop heads in training.

Ornery amber
Pegged at a typical American amber, good malt, good hops. Not intimidating but excellent.

Coco Porter
Do not get as much chocolate as i expect from a coco porter. Awesome but understated complexity. Covers the tongue in pleasure. Best beer here.

They have 5 beers. the Four standard and the roaving seasonal. All beers are good, but lack a little passion. Brewers are recepie followers not brewmasters. Posted by Picasa

Hops Brewing Company. Littleton, Co. Posted by Picasa

Nine Beer sampler, $5.50 usually 6, but they were happy to bring out the casks and seasonals.
Lumpy Dog, Light Lager - Chick Beer.
Buffalo Gold, Nice golden ale, good mouth feel. Little hops.
16th Street Wheat. American Wheat Beer, nice and light a training wheel beer. Not my favorite style.
Falcon Pale Ale. Hops is present through out beer. Piney taste, a little citrus as well. Malt is pleasant and balanced to a dry finish. Good beer, best common ground for non-hop-heads.
Red Rocks Red, Irish Style Red. Dry finish, would like a little more spice like Smithwicks or sweeter like Killians, this one hits the middle. Ok beer.
Mollys Titanic Brown Ale. Dry finish like the rest. Apparent chocolate flavors with a nice hop balance. Very good brown\mild ale.
Brewmasters Oatmeal Stout. Must be the same yeast as others, as the beer finishes dry for style. The beer has enough chocolate and roast to pull off an excellent balance. Oatmeal smoothes out the mouth-feel and finish. The dry finish makes the beer feel a little thin for the style.
Cask Mollys. Cask dampens dryness and makes this an excellent beer. The warmth causes the beer to open up and . Hops come to the fore-front , and it finishes with much more mouthfeel then its CO2 cousin.
Denver Steam. Good hops and caramel color. Crystal malts come through in body and malty flavor. Not as hoppy as its San Francisco cousin, but this beer offer piney hops and malty under tones.
